In light of this graduation season I feel the urge to issue some unsolicited advice to those who are believe they’re done with school.  Education does not stop with Graduation.  And for those who are considering moving on to other institutions of higher learning, I caution you to consider the fact that it’s not so important where you decide to go as to what you “do” when you get there.

My experience has taught me that our choice in the next level institution or organization should always be secondary to what we decide to do when we get there.  I’ve seen many who have made a choice of institutions and organizations because of its aloft reputation in the eyes of the general public only to be outpaced and outperformed by someone who has worked harder and smarter at a not-so-popular institution or organization.

Simply put, what you “do” trumps where you go everyday of the week and twice on Sundays.  So I say to you today in terms of choosing to change in the area of academics, sports, business or life relationships.  Commit to work primarily on the most important factor in the equation which is “YOU”.  Make a commitment to squeeze the juice out of the environment that you’re in rather popular or not-so-popular and then go out and teach this world a lesson about what’s most important and what really counts.

Don’t miss this message today as you continue to lean forward and make it GREAT!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!

I was chatting with a good friend not long ago and she was sharing with me some of her present and past struggles and challenges, some of which have caused her a considerable amount of depression and despair.  In some of her lowest moments she has even felt herself slowly losing sight of the ultimate goals and dreams she has set for herself and have had fleeting thoughts of possibly cutting her life’s journey short.

After several moments of discussion I reminded her of what I call the “GSTV” which is the Goal, the Struggle and the Triumphant Victory.  I’ve found that in order for any story to be inspiring it has to embody these three components.  I further reminded her that it’s the struggle and adversity that adds value to the goal or dream and without this process her story would fall short of inspiring others.

So today I say to you who are experiencing the “S” phase of your journey to accomplishing your well-defined goal or dream.  Embrace the struggle and know the process is adding more inspiration to your personal arsenal of experiences to be shared in your compelling story later on down the road.

Hang in there today and be encouraged and know that every struggle gets you one step closer to your Triumphant Victory.  So FIGHT ON my friend for one more day and make it GREAT!

I would love to share with you today a little nugget of wisdom I’ve picked up on my journey through the events of my life.

We must be ever-so-careful not to allow the commendation, praise and accolades of others or the lack-there-of to be the yard stick by which we measure our success or failure.  For I’ve learned that the same names and voices that are capable of building you up can and oftentimes will also bring you down with even more efficiency.  This phenomenon will always be the case to some extent quite simply because negative news and content will always sell and compel faster and more frequent and efficiently than the positive.

So I say to you today be comfortable in your own skin and know who you are, why you’re here and your true intention for your actions.  And don’t be so quick to allow the voices that surround you to dictate and justify your noble actions and deeds.  Having such a mindset will equip you to weather the storm of the negative nasty non-sense of the naughty naysayer members of the discouragement club when and if the time comes down the road.

I encourage you to move forward with complete confidence today and know that what you do and stand for is meaningful and does matter, not just while you’re here, but even after you’re days on this earth or no more.

Never lose sight of the fact that we only get one time through this “life” thing.  So let’s make a point to know ourselves and our cause as we continue in our efforts to make it GREAT!

On this great Memorial Day I invite you to reflect on the fact that the large majority of our great country’s population eat fresh fruit freely from the “Tree of Freedom“ that was firmly planted by the blood, sweat and tears of a small few who have dared to place themselves in harms way to protect it down through the years.  Many of this unsung group of individuals have even paid the ultimate price by giving up their life to assure the freedom tree’s continual place in the garden of liberty and justice for all.

With all that we have today let us not fall victim to the deceptive purr of the cat of comfort and complacency, for it’s then that we open the door to jeopardizing freedoms existence.  We should make a continuous point to remain ever-vigilant in safeguarding that which so many have fought so hard to obtain and sustain.  Some prefer to call them brother, sister, Mom, Dad or son, daughter just to name a few.  But, I simply prefer to call them all Hero’s.

We should honor their absence on this day by committing to never lose sight and focus of our freedom and advocate for it all over the globe, because as a great man once said, “An injustice allowed anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

So my question is, have you had the opportunity to thank a real life Super Hero today?  No need to answer out loud, just make me proud as you stand out from the crowd.  Let’s all continue to embrace the fruit of the “Freedom Tree” as we continue to lean forward in our efforts to make it GREAT!

Over the years I’ve discovered that ultimately the results we get and what we yield in this life will be directly determined by what we yield to.  So going forward it’s in our best interest to consider the following:

For what are you willing to go over the hill and through the woods for?  How far are you willing to go to get that which you seek?  When you fall down what will be the reason why you will get back up?  What sacrifices are you willing to make to WIN?

These are all “Must Answer” questions that you absolutely must answer.  While on your journey through this thing called “life” you are sure to encounter many popular signs like caution, slow, stop and go, but please don’t overlook the yield

Let’s all resolve today that we won’t yield our will to that which is less than what we seek.  Yes, the outcome and what we yield in this life will definitely be determined by what we yield to.  Don’t miss the message on this one.  Not today.  Let’s keep leaning forward as we continue to make it GREAT!
