Well folks, ready or not here it comes. I guess I blinked and almost overnight a “14” is now turning into a “15”. Yes that’s right my friends, 2015 is a couple of days away and I hope you’re ready.

Ok, I have to be honest… Don’t expect for 2015 to be anything special. The unfortunate truth is it’s going to be some of the same-old-same-old missed opportunities of the previous years of old for some of us, UNLESS!!! Unless we do something different. 🙂

I’d like to suggest that we all make it a point to seize those previously missed opportunities to do something good for others in need in this new year. Why? Well, simply because we can.

Let’s make a commitment to step up our game and do our part to Make it GREAT!!!

GREAT WEEK!!!!

I’ve been on a lot of beautiful stages during my career as a motivational speaker but never a stage that’s both beautiful and has a great message behind it, until today.

At first glance it just looks like an incredibly large wall of three-dimensional stacked stone, but after chatting with the brains behind the construction of it all, I discovered that it’s just a giant wall of mis-cut, misfit, discarded, random remnant pieces that were destined and doomed for the scrap-heap.

This just goes to show you what type of awe-inspiring beauty can be made out of the unwanted, misused and abused if you’re willing to get a little creative.

So don’t be so quick to through in the towel on the possibility of making something special out of used, unwanted goods. Even if you feel like that used, unwanted good is you. Let’s go Make it GREAT!

GREAT WEEK!!!

I was hanging out with my kiddos yesterday at one of our favorite conversation spots called Olive Garden and I made a comment about how nice they look on a daily basis. But not just their external features and great taste in clothes, but even more important than that, their hearts, their smarts and their respect for others being off the charts.

Then I told them, “If I was your age I would want to hang out with you.” Now naturally this caught them off guard so I followed it up by saying, “You guys would have a good influence on me and I would feel really good around you because you guys are really cool in a special kinda way.”

“Whattt… Now Dad that would just be weird.” they said as we all shared a hardy laugh together. But that moment got me to thinking and as a result, I have a quick question for you to ponder today. “If you were not ‘You’ would you want to hang out with “You”? Yep, this is one of those questions that makes you say “Hmmm…”

Give it some serious thought and be honest with yourself as you decide if some changes need to be made to make you more attractive to “You”. You may want to ask yourself :

“Do I gossip too much, complain too much, whine too much or blame too much?

Would I celebrate my coming around or just tolerate my presence with an uncomfortable frown?

Would I get on my own nerves and piss my own self off?”

Give it some thought and don’t forget to be brutally honest with yourself because the worst person you could ever tell a lie to is “You”. After all, if we wouldn’t want to be with ourselves, then how can we blame others for not wanting to hang around us either?

So, do you need to consider making some changes? No need to answer this question here, just make sure you’re crystal clear and consider these questions in the coming year.

Ever heard the old phrase, “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.”? Well, I found myself up late again last night doing a little bit of thinking and I think I’ve stumbled onto a new notion that might be worthy of lending an ear for a minute or two.

I remember as a kid living near the infamous Dallas Housing Projects in Texas I used to be a member of the local PAL Program. This program allowed me, my brothers and a few other friends to take care of the horses that the Police Officers used to patrol the area. I remember that when the horses were off-duty we were allowed to feed and clean them and occasionally we were able to take them out to the levy area of the nearby Trinity River and race them.

My horse’s name was Mr. Dean and even though he was the oldest horse in the bunch, he was still pretty fast. I’ll never forget the time that me and Mr. Dean had been out running for a while and suddenly he started to take me off into a direction that I didn’t want to go. I began to yell and yank and kick and spank him, but it eventually became apparent to me that he was on a mission to get what he wanted and nothing I did was going to stop him. Well, minutes later Mr. Dean had carried me out into the middle of the Texas Trinity River to cool off and get a drink with me still on his back. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. LOL

Yes it’s true that you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. But, I submit to you that if you do something to make that horse hot and thirsty, you won’t have to worry about making him drink because he’ll not only drink willingly, but he’ll also be splashing and thrashing around in it. LOL 🙂

An interesting parallel here is that as an author and speaker my job is to be that trigger and that voice that creates a thirst in the readers and hearers of my message that makes people want to know more about developing themselves personally so they can do more, be more and see more.

So my hope for you today is that you will develop an unquenchable thirst for knowledge that will help you to be a better “You” in all that you do. And, my prayer is that your hunger and cravings for deeper insight and understanding will be so intense that not even the greatest of distractions and negative actions can keep you from pursuing that which you seek. Just as Mr. Dean knew what he wanted and nothing was going to keep him from it. 🙂

Yes this is indeed a breadcrumb that can lead you to not just making this “Life” thing “good”, but Making it GREAT!

GREAT WEEKEND!!!

Ok, I’ve been doing that “Thinking” thing again and I’ve come up with an acronymic definition for the word SUCCESS and I’d like to share it with you to jumpstart your work week. So here goes…..

S-U-C-C-E-S-S: Struggling Under Challenging Circumstances & Enduring till Self-Satisfaction Shows-up.

Yep, that’s right folks SUCCESS comes ONLY after we have managed to struggle through those things that challenge our core and our cause long enough for us to obtain the results that we seek.

Our idea of what constitutes SUCCESS may differ from person-to-person but the feeling of accomplishment after enduring the process of the struggle and pain still feels universally the same.

So, I encourage you to once again get suited, booted and geared-up mentally and physically for another week of Challenging Circumstances and don’t let anyone else define, distract or deter you from the goal you seek. Press-on and on and on until your SUCCESS shows-up then tell me all about it. 😉

Let’s Make it GREAT!!!
