Living in a world where “sex” sells, “drama” dominates, “chaos” is a cash-cow, “profanity” is profitable and “raunchy” and “risqué” rules the airwaves and cyberspace, one of my biggest struggles and challenges has been trying to attract and maintain the attention of the masses long enough to deliver a positive message.

I must admit that it’s becoming extremely harder and harder to compete with video games and internet-cyberspace.  The mind-numbing TV shows, radios, picture shows and videos are managing to seduce most of the general public into accepting a mediocre mindset.  Yet I fight-on.

I fight on because I know my cause is noble and just.  I fight-on because my mission is worthy of my best efforts.  I fight-on because I was created for a task such as this.  I fight-on because evil can only prosper and grow if good men/women stand by and do nothing.  I fight-on because my boys want to be like me and they’re watching my every step.   I fight-on because someone somewhere is unknowingly waiting to be Inspired, Motivated or Educated by my positive message and content.

In spite of the existing challenge, my #1 goal hasn’t changed a bit.  I still aspire to remain relevant and produce positive, life altering content in a very competitive market.  “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can,” were the famous words spoken by the “Little Engine that Could”, but my emphatic word-phrase is, “I know I can, I Know I Can, I ABSOLUTELY KNOW I CAN !!!”

Today I have no shame in admitting that I need all the help I can possibly get from my friends both on and off-line.  So I say to you today, if you’ve ever been blessed by any of my work, writings or content, don’t keep it to yourself.  Feel free to refer others to my Facebook page and my website and blog regularly @:  www.MrBreadCrumb.com and www.CedricCrawford.com.

I’ve observed over the years that just like all snakes go through the process of molting to change their skin every few years, we too as humans have to engage in the same process of change as it relates to our level of maturity.  And, although the molting change for snakes can literally happen overnight, for us humans it can take several years.

Yes that’s right folks, in most cases we’re not the same person at age 40 as we were at age 20.  Our life challenges and struggles shape and mold us over time and the old version of ourselves is eventually molted off.  The unfortunate reality is that this change is not always for the better and in some cases the molting process never happens.

Yes it’s true that some of those among us can be found guilty of growing old but never really growing up.  Some may continue to retain their childish, immature ways of ‘stinking thinking’ and maybe in some cases not even thinking at all.  They continue to live their lives today as if there is no consequences for their actions tomorrow.  They continue to allow their past hurts, hang-ups and internal rage to bully them into engaging in reckless, self-destructive behavior over-and-over again.

To this end, I invite you to join me today in sending a collective message to those who need to hear these words.  “Grow Up!  Choose to take back control and remove the bully of the memory of your bad past from your life.  You don’t have to let the old ‘you’ of yesterday define the ‘you’ of today.  You can choose to embrace the molting process of positive change and install a new belief about who you are and what you’re capable of.  Today is indeed a new day and the first day of the rest of your life.  So adopt some new positive philosophies and principles and get on your way to Making your life GREAT!  You’ll be glad you did.”  🙂

If money had no value what then would be your motivation?  If power, prestige and recognition lost its luster what then would be your driving force to do what you do?  If material possessions and societal status ceased to satisfy you, where then would your satisfaction and sense of accomplishment come from?  Hmmm…

Yes indeed these are tough questions, but I’ve found that you have to be willing to ask the tough questions to get to the most important answers.  In the absence of all the aforementioned, what then would be the source of your smile and genuine joy?

The honest answers to these questions are sure to lock you into understanding the purpose and reason for you being on this earth.  When all else is stripped away, that thing that truly brightens your day is where your center should be and everything else spokes out from there.  Keeping this thing as the “main-thing” in your life is the key to living a life full of genuine joy.

I invite you to try it out sometime, you’ll be glad you did.  Another important breadcrumb for you to help you make this weekend GREAT!

So my 4^th grader Chayse-Marie gets out of bed this morning and heads over to her white marker board to change todays date.  Then I hear, “Ughhh!!!  Dad!  It’s Friday the 13^th!!!”  Then I spontaneously yelled back, “YAYYYY!!!”  Caught off guard by my response she then says, “Dad… that’s not a good thing.”

I then simply told her, “The day is what you decide baby-girl.  People have told you that this day is one of misfortune and bad luck but you don’t have to accept that as your reality.  You can decide to make this day a Great day no matter what date is on the calendar.”  She thought for a few seconds then said, “Ok…” and trotted off to the bathroom with a big-ole’ cool-aid smile on her face.

I must admit that I never get tired of experiencing these little teachable moments of opportunity with my little shorties.  The day really is what we decide.

We must not be so easily duped into adopting those many rituals of society that do not serve our positive purpose.  It really is our choice, so be sure to choose wisely.

I hope that you would continue to choose to make it GREAT every day of the week and twice on Fridays.  Even if it’s Friday the 13^th.    🙂

And always remember that what’s focused on most develops in the host.  So choose to focus on positive outcomes for your day and Make it GREAT!
