In this life we can all be found guilty of forgetting a lot of things at different times.  Our car keys, cell phone, hat, purse, wallet or check book.  Some of us may even forget to wash our face, brush our teeth or even comb our hair a time or two.  But please make sure that out of all the things that you may forget in your day, please don’t ever forget to laugh and smile.

Studies show that ONE short minute of genuine laughter can even boost your immune system for up to 24 hours.  Studies also show that happy people live longer.  And, I’ve personally experienced that smiling is actually pretty contagious.  So be sure to show your teeth today, even if you only have just one.  Laugh, Smile and Dance in spite of your circumstance.  Let’s all be found guilty of trying to make this “good” life GREAT!   GREAT WEEK !!!

I ’ve been gaining clarity in understanding that the reason why we eventually succeed is because we’re not afraid to fail. We eventually grow stronger because we’re not afraid to acknowledge our weaknesses. We ultimately hit our homeruns because we dare to keep swinging the bat.  We eventually score touchdowns because we’re not afraid to say, “Give me the ball and let me run!”  We continue to make major steps forward because of our ability to plow through the minor setbacks.

We must continue to refuse to let those cynical voices around us succeed in talking us back into the “Box” of life and pursuing a goal of comfort and “averagism” after every challenge or failure. We can’t expect the average person to understand our journey and process of positive change if they have yet to start their own journey.

Be advised that in this life we may be a lot of things but “Average” is not one of them. We continue to strive to be the exception to the unwritten rule of mediocrity. Words like normal, typical and usual do not describe us. We are indeed persistent, vigilant overcomers and understand that we eventually WIN because we are not afraid to Lose. The difference for us is we understand that we must fail our way to success in this life.  There’s no magic bullet or other way around it. So let’s fail forward fast and furiously.

I say with emphatic passion on this day, when you give it your best the score board becomes obsolete and can never, ever make you a loser. Continue to move forward this week and better your best.

Make it GREAT!   Let’s keep striving to be anything but “Average”.

I love creating these photos with a positive message and I truly feel that the most comforting and reassuring thing that my age and experiences have brought me at this point in my life is an “opinion” that matters to many.

The many years of overcoming struggle and adversity in both life and the business market place has left me with many scars and a boat-load of wisdom.  But, the single most important thing of all that I’ve learned is that no matter what the world throws at me I can still be victorious and overcome because someone even greater than the whole world has got my back.

So I say to you today, in whatever cause that is noble and just and is not for your own selfish ambition, yes it is indeed worthy of your best efforts.  So keep giving this life your best in spite of what the naysayers are saying because someone greater than us all has got your back and if you don’t quit, YOU CAN NOT FAIL!  Let’s keep MAKING it GREAT!

For those of you who’re in positions of authority, please be sure to check your stress level from time-to-time to avoid taking your frustration out on other harmless individuals.  As an Ex-Peace Officer myself, I understand that there is a distinct difference between the “Spirit of the Law” and the “Letter of the Law” and I’ve found that often times high stress levels can tend to push a person to the side of the “Letter of the Law” more often than not.

I was driving home late last night from hanging out with my group-home boys for the day.  It was about 10 pm and I was traveling on a major road with no other civilian vehicles.  I pulled up behind a CHP (California Highway Patrol) vehicle at a stop light.  The light turned green and I switched lanes and then continued on and watched in my review mirror as the CHP officer got in back of me.  I watched carefully to make sure that I didn’t go too slow or too fast.  The posted speed limit was 50mph and my speed was fluctuating between 49mph and 52mph.  After about a mile or two the officer switched over to the #2 lane and pulled up next to me and yelled at me over his bull-horn, “STOP SPEEDING!  YOU’RE DRIVING TOO FAST!  SLOW DOWN AND DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT!”  I must admit that I was surprised to hear this, considering the speed I was driving at and the surrounding conditions.  I actually felt kinda like I was being scolded by my father.  LOL.

As a result, I immediately decreased my speed by 2mph to prevent from endangering the general public.  Then it hit me.  I suddenly realized that even CHP Officers are human and have to deal with stress.  I thought to myself that maybe he was headed home from a hard, stressful day at work out on the freeways and interstates and he felt that my actions in his presence was an act of some sort of disrespect.  Well whatever the case, I wasn’t going to let his bad day ruin my GREAT day.  So, I smiled and waved and drove on singing my song.

This event prompted me to issue this gentle reminder.  We must check our “Stress-Level” often and keep ourselves in check in this world.  We should also be sure that we never let someone else’s stressful day ruin ours.

Stress-free for me.  How’s your stress level today?  No need to answer out loud or raise your hand, just hear and understand.  Let’s continue to make it GREAT!

I  came up with a funny yet interesting life scenario this morning and wanted to share it with you;  A good friend of mine got caught by his boss behind his desk secretly engaging in one of the oldest stimulating activities in the “Book”.  His stated reasoning for his behavior was that this activity improves his work performance and the companies overall bottom-line.

Now even more interesting than that is the fact that the boss’s secretary and a co-worker got caught red-handed a month earlier engaging in the exact same act.  After reviewing company records, his boss had no other real answer for why production was up over the last few months.  So, as a result, his boss decided to start regularly engaging in the same activity himself and he even started to encourage others in the company to do it too.  Hmmmm.  What is this activity?  Well, it’s called “Prayer” and “Meditation”.  Not a bad daily discipline to be found guilty of, huh?

My number one formula for being all you can be in this “life” thing is simply called “D8”.  Doing Daily Disciplines Daily Develops Dominance & Determines Destiny.  If you tell me about your daily disciplines, I can tell you about who you are and who you’re becoming.

Question:  If you were caught doing your daily disciplines, would it make you smile with pride and joy or blush with embarrassment and shame?  No need to answer out loud or raise your hand, just hear and understand and make your Daily Discipline Plans my friend.  Let’s not wait to make it GREAT!
