The popular TV Sitcom Show “Cheers” starring Ted Danson, Kirstie Alley, Woody Harrelson and Kelsey Grammer was a hugely successful hit show during the 1980’s and 90’s that set new records in the television industry during that time.  I have nothing but fond memories of the show and the great comedy scenes they portrayed throughout the years.

The catchy lyrics of the opening theme song of the show was, “Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they’re always glad you came…”  Now I’ve been thinking lately about the words of that theme song and how it relates to us living our life every day sharing our respective areas and work spaces with other people.  As a result, today I invite you to consider the following thought.

Sure it’s true that sometimes we all want to go where people know our name, but I believe that the even more important question is, “Are they always glad we came?”  Hmmm…

Yes my friends, people knowing our name should be secondary to whether or not they’re glad we came.  So a good question for you to consider today is, “Are you bringing life and light into your places and spaces around you daily?”  Are you being welcomed and celebrated as you enter the room, or just tolerated?  Chew on these questions for a bit and be honest with yourself.

First-hand experience has taught me over the years that if you make an honest effort to leave people feeling just a little bit better than they felt before your encounter with them, I can promise you that the next time they see you they’ll always be glad you came.  Try it sometime.  🙂

This is just another small breadcrumb of wisdom that can get you one step closer to Making it GREAT!  So eat-up and go-up.  Cheers…
