Ok, time for a little bit of transparency from Mr. Make-it-GREAT. I must admit that I suck at times. Yes I said “I suck”. “I suck at what?” you might ask. Well, honestly I suck at staying down or depressed. I’m simply not very good at it. Yep, there are days that I may feel a little down or depressed or not as fired up about the day, but I have a few secret weapons that I employ when needed and one of the most important weapons in my arsenal is you. Yes, YOU…

This may come as a surprise to some of you but your comments and messages are like a shot of adrenaline to me when I’m feeling less than inspired. So, whether you’ve made one comment or 101 comments, it’s to you I go when I’m feeling low. That’s right my friends I’ve been known to invest an hour or two from time-to-time reading the many thousands of comments, messages, emails and post cards from you who glean some value from what I do. So, to you I say, “THANK YOU”.

Thank you for making me feel like what I do is meaningful and matters and makes a difference to you. Thank you for taking those few moments and minutes to share your thanks and thoughts for my books and blogs and Podcast Pods because yes I do read them all over and over and over again as the clock of the years continue to spin.

So, what weapons do you have in your wallet to use when the ways of this wacky world gets you down? Hmmm… No need to answer the question here, just make sure you’re crystal clear.

Keep those comments coming because I’m sure I’ll need you again real soon. Thanks in advance for continuing to help me Make it GREAT!!!

GREAT DAY young Grasshoppers!!!

Was chatting with a group of high school students yesterday and in a moment of opportunity I felt compelled to remind them that the simplest yet highest honor and respect they can pay to our men and women who serve and have served our great country is to show reverence for our flag daily in their respective classrooms during the pledge of allegiance and the singing of our national anthem.

After all they’ve done that mattered,
We can honor them by cutting the chatter.

Thank You to all of those who have made our freedoms possible.

I think they got the picture… 😉

Let’s continue to Make it GREAT!

She told me she was feeling okay,
But her eyes gave her true feelings away.

His physical appearance showed his glory,
But his voice & tone told a whole different story.

She said everything was alright,
But I could tell she’d been crying throughout the night.

He said he was fine and didn’t need my help,
But his expression couldn’t hide what he really felt.

Yes my friends, many attempt to hide what’s really inside because of a distorted sense of foolish pride,
But a true friend can recognize and NOT let you slide to the side and run and hide.

So when we say the words, “How are you doing?” do we really want to know? When we say, “How have you been?” are we really interested in the answer? Hmmm… The unfortunate truth for many is “Probably not”. In most cases these are just “Throw-out” kind words and “Niceties” that are hollow in there delivery and benign in there intent. But they don’t have to be.

You see my friends these words can become words of opportunity if we let them. Opportunity for what, you may ask. Well, an opportunity to get a good read so you can help a friend in need.

So a good question today is, “If you have a solution to someone else’s problem, but it takes some of your time, talent, treasures or testimony, are you willing to get involved?” Hmmm…

No need to answer this question here, just make sure you’re intentions are crystal clear.

So, how are you doing???

I encourage you to ask, look and listen for those opportunities in the days ahead to get a good read so you can do a good deed by filling a need to help someone else succeed. This is indeed a recipe for how we can make a “good” life, GREAT!

Let’s Make it GREAT!!!

Ok to share if you dare…

I did a little research recently and was surprised to discover that the overwhelming majority of people who die in a fire don’t actually die from the “fire”, they die from the smoke created by the fire. Yes my friends, it’s NOT the fiery heat, it’s the smoky release.

After giving it a bit of thought I realized that this phenomenon also exist when we’re dealing with others. When someone speaks to us with a flagrant tone of disrespect in derision and disregard, the fiery words may only sting for a moment, but the lingering memory and impact of what was said in the moment can cause an untold amount of damage, if we let it.

So a good question today is, “Have you been scorched by the fiery words of someone lately? Has your ego been burned or singed by the flames of a flagrant friend? Has your character been charred or your self-esteem seared by the hot blistering words of a reckless bitter individual with malice intent?” Hmmm…

Well I’ve got good news for you today. We can let the fiery words of others burn-as-it-may as long as we make a point to steer-clear of the smoke.

Simply put: We can’t control what people say to us, but we can always control what we allow their words to do to us. So don’t be so quick to inhale the smoke created by someone’s flagrantly fiery words of malice. Let those words burn-baby-burn while we attempt to keep-on Making it GREAT!

GREAT WEEKEND !!!

“I’m afraid I won’t like it.” was my daughter’s words before my wife started on her seven hour, hand-numbing journey to give Chayse her first braided hair-doo .

I then told her, “How will you know unless you go?” Then she uttered these words that made me think, and made me laugh, “Dad, your life is like one big motivational speech.” LOL

Yep, she’s a pretty sharp little girl, and she’s funny too. But her statement got me to thinking about what descriptive words would best describe the life I’m living. Hmmm… I’ve gotta think about this one a bit, but “Motivational Speech” is a good start. LOL

So what’s your descriptive words for life? No need to answer it here, just make sure you’re crystal clear and Make it GREAT!!!

Oh by-the-way, she loves her new hair-doo. “You’ll never know unless you go.”
