I was having a casual conversation with a young friend of mine yesterday and during our chat I was reminded of what I call the “It Won’t Happen to Me” Syndrome.  A few seconds to read today just might make even more than just your day.

Over the years I’ve watched this young man grow from a pre-teen to a 22 year old handsome young adult.  After graduating from high school he decided to take a four year furlough as far away from education as he could possibly get to engage in an activity that he thought would bring him the joy he so desired.

But after a few short months away he was blindsided by a harsh reality that collided head-on with his jaded, ill-conceived expectations.  “If I would’ve really known what I was getting myself into, I would’ve never made the decision I made,” he said with a nervous smile on his face.  “The experience was absolutely nothing like I expected it to be.  Others were sharing stories of their experiences and trying to persuade me to consider furthering my education after high school, but I didn’t want to hear what they had to say.  ‘It won’t happen to me’ was my thought, but boy was I wrong, big time.”

I then expressed to him that experience is commonly referred to as being the best teacher, but listening and learning from someone else’s experience is just plain-ole’ smart.  Sometimes the answer is not to go and try it for yourself.  He agreed.

Experience over the years has taught me that when reality meets expectations, sometimes there’s a confrontation that may leave you saying, “What the heck was I thinking?”   Can I get a witness?  LOL…   😉

Yes my friends the “It Won’t Happen to Me” Syndrome has claimed many unsuspecting, intensely motivated victims the world over but don’t let it claim you.  Not today.  Don’t be afraid to consult with good counsel and listen and learn from their experiences and leverage their knowledge for your good and their pain for your gain.  This definitely can help you to prevent a lot of undue heartache while you’re attempting to Make it GREAT!

I’m not sure what the future holds for my young friend, but I’m absolutely sure of who holds the future.  A reassessment of his priorities has now been completed and a new goal has been set and appropriate action is underway for him to continue in his efforts to make this ‘good’ life, GREAT!!

Results are to be continued…   🙂

Living in a world where “sex” sells, “drama” dominates, “chaos” is a cash-cow, “profanity” is profitable and “raunchy” and “risqué” rules the airwaves and cyberspace, one of my biggest struggles and challenges has been trying to attract and maintain the attention of the masses long enough to deliver a positive message.

I must admit that it’s becoming extremely harder and harder to compete with video games and internet-cyberspace.  The mind-numbing TV shows, radios, picture shows and videos are managing to seduce most of the general public into accepting a mediocre mindset.  Yet I fight-on.

I fight on because I know my cause is noble and just.  I fight-on because my mission is worthy of my best efforts.  I fight-on because I was created for a task such as this.  I fight-on because evil can only prosper and grow if good men/women stand by and do nothing.  I fight-on because my boys want to be like me and they’re watching my every step.   I fight-on because someone somewhere is unknowingly waiting to be Inspired, Motivated or Educated by my positive message and content.

In spite of the existing challenge, my #1 goal hasn’t changed a bit.  I still aspire to remain relevant and produce positive, life altering content in a very competitive market.  “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can,” were the famous words spoken by the “Little Engine that Could”, but my emphatic word-phrase is, “I know I can, I Know I Can, I ABSOLUTELY KNOW I CAN !!!

Today I have no shame in admitting that I need all the help I can possibly get from my friends both on and off-line.  So I say to you today, if you’ve ever been blessed by any of my work, writings or content, don’t keep it to yourself.  Feel free to refer others to my Facebook page and my website and blog regularly @:  www.MrBreadCrumb.com and www.CedricCrawford.com.

There’s sooooo much more positive content to come in the days ahead in the form of Books, CD’s, DVD’s, MP-3’s, Podcast, Live Events, etc, etc, etc…  So keep tuning in and be sure to tell a friend or two or TEN!

I’m on a mission to help others to Make it GREAT !!!

It just gets better from here.  So Spread the Word !!!

So my 4th grader Chayse-Marie gets out of bed this morning and heads over to her white marker board to change todays date.  Then I hear, “Ughhh!!!  Dad!  It’s Friday the 13th!!!”  Then I spontaneously yelled back, “YAYYYY!!!”  Caught off guard by my response she then says, “Dad… that’s not a good thing.”

I then simply told her, “The day is what you decide baby-girl.  People have told you that this day is one of misfortune and bad luck but you don’t have to accept that as your reality.  You can decide to make this day a Great day no matter what date is on the calendar.”  She thought for a few seconds then said, “Ok…” and trotted off to the bathroom with a big-ole’ cool-aid smile on her face.

I must admit that I never get tired of experiencing these little teachable moments of opportunity with my little shorties.  The day really is what we decide.

We must not be so easily duped into adopting those many rituals of society that do not serve our positive purpose.  It really is our choice, so be sure to choose wisely.

I hope that you would continue to choose to make it GREAT every day of the week and twice on Fridays.  Even if it’s Friday the 13th.    🙂

And always remember that what’s focused on most develops in the host.  So choose to focus on positive outcomes for your day and Make it GREAT!

Have a Fantastic Friday!!!

Have you ever been sitting at a stop light or drive-thru and glanced back in your review mirror at the person sitting in the vehicle behind you to find that they look like they were on their way to having a really bad day?  Did you ever wish that you could do something about it to help turn it around?

Well, it happened to me this morning in a drive-thru line at a Jack-in-the-Box.  I was just minding my own business when I just-so-happened to glance in my rearview mirror and spot a woman behind me who appeared to be in need of a little help from a total stranger.  Well, I’m happy to report that I didn’t pass on my opportunity to get involved and do my part.

So, I told the cashier, “Michelle, I’ll be paying for two meals this morning, mine and the lady behind me.”  She then cracked a Big smile and said, “Ahhh…  That’s so awesome.”  Then I told her to tell the woman to just pay it forward when the time is right.  We exchanged a few more niceties and then I sped off into the distance to maintain my anonymity.

I must admit that I’m a little bit self-centered when it comes to the feeling that I get from engaging in such actions as this.  I got a two-for-one today brightening the mystery-woman’s day and also I’m sure Michelle enjoyed the experience of bearing the good news.

No, this is definitely not my first rodeo as it relates to this type of action and it most definitely won’t be my last.  I’ve learned that being a true giver without want opens us up to receive even more than what we want in this world.  Making a point to cash-in on these types of opportunities is important to me, and the act even makes my day great.

So, what are you going to do the next time your number is called?  Will you be mentally and physically prepared to take action within your small window of opportunity?  Hmmm…  No need to answer out loud, just make us proud and be different then the crowd.

Don’t miss your opportunity to make someone else’s day GREAT and in the process you’re sure to find that you’re making your own day GREAT!

Yep, this breadcrumb of wisdom can make your life so much more fulfilling.  So enjoy as you continue to Make it GREAT!

I read your book almost every day and even though I may not remember many of the stories or events, I do remember how your book makes me feel when I read the entries…” He said as he shook my hand and hugged my neck.  “…It makes me feel like I want to be better and do something nice for somebody.  It also keeps me charged-up and ready to face my day.”

I must admit that I can’t get enough of bumping into people in various places in the community that light-up when they see me because they instantly recall the way my book makes them feel.  I feel so honored and privileged to have been a part of giving them a positive experience in their life.

When I was writing my book “Bread Crumbs to Making it GREAT” I knew that designing it to attract and accommodate the non-reader would be the key to increasing the chances that busy people would be able to read parts of it in the cracks and crevasses of time in their life.

This day-to-day devotional style lends itself to giving you a quick entry based on true personal events that are designed to inspire, motivate, encourage, empower and educate you with a quick message and send you on your way through your day.  Making you T.A.L.L.E.R. was my overall objective:  Think, Act, Laugh, Learn, Excel & Reflect.

Could it be a case of mass hysteria, or, are these hundreds of people actually experiencing something that’s really making a positive difference in their lives?  Hmmm…

Dare to find out for yourself.  Order your copy today and I guarantee that if after 30 days of reading the short content rich entries, if you don’t think it’s creating value for you, just send it back to me for a full refund.  Now who does that?  🙂
