I was just thinking back to when me and my brothers were young kids selling candy door-to-door to help my parents out with the bills, I learned quickly that you had to have a short-lasting memory and long-lasting smile if you wanted to end your day with some nice pay. So to remind myself of what I needed to do daily, I created the following phrase, “Don’t let the word ‘No’ dim your glow.”

Now, strangely enough as an adult I’ve invested a lifetime trying to sell myself and have again been reminded that you can’t allow the word “No” to dim your glow. Yes my friends, if we are to eventually obtain the “Yes” that we seek, we have to be willing to traverse a minefield of “No’s” and still let our glow show because the next person we encounter doesn’t care and doesn’t know about our many previous “No’s”.

So, I encourage you to keep smiling and profiling through your field of “No” till you get to the place you want to go. And, always remember that every “No” just gets you one “No” closer to your “YES”! So I encourage you to adopt my phrase as your own and turn the word “No” into a song and sing it as you move along and keep your glow as you go and always show your best till you get your “YES”! 😉

Now let’s continue to Make it GREAT!!! “NO” YOUR WAY TO YOUR “YES”?

I was hanging out with one of my homeless buddies the other day and I glanced down at his hands and was shocked at what I saw. Busted, cut, torn, tattered, dirty and damaged, his hand’s has to be among the worst I’ve seen in a looong time. Then it suddenly dawned on me that his hand’s actually serves as a record of his life’s struggles and troubles. Every cut, callous and crease most likely has a story that goes with it I’m sure.

After considering this thought, I then had the urge to take a peek at my own hands and I noticed that they too have been marred and scared and carries several different stories as well.

You know, our hands really can tell the story of our life. The rough times, tough times, up times and down times, times when it’s tight and times when you’ve had to fight. Yep, our hands can probably tell the story so much better than any words we could ever say.

So, if your hands could speak or tell your story, what would they say of your struggles and glory? Hmmm… Just a little treat to start your week. Let’s keep making it GREAT!

AWESOME WEEK!!!

Well, today I got totally RAK’d at the Juice Shack and it totally reminded me of one of my old phrases, “Got MILK?”. Ok, let me explain:

I finished up my workout at the gym today and was feeling famished so after a quick shower, I walked over to the juice bar that’s conveniently located in the foyer area of the gym to get my first-ever healthy smoothie from them. A casual conversation ensued with the attendant on duty named Christa who had a very welcoming smile and kind personality and demeanor to match.

Being a first-timer at her booth, I needed a little help in determining what would be a good fit for me and she did not disappoint as she quickly pointed out several choices that peaked my interest. An anonymous gentleman stood patiently at the counter waiting for us to sort-out the choices. After settling on a Hawaiian Blast, I suddenly realized that I had left my wallet in my car, so I advised Christa that I would be right back. She flashed that contagious smile and said, “Ok, I’ll have it ready for you when you get back.”

So I ran out the door to retrieve my wallet and returned to the juice counter and received a surprise that was totally unexpected. “Hey, did you know that guy that was just here at the counter?” she asked. “No I didn’t. Why?” I responded. “Well, because he just paid for your smoothie.” She said. “What? He did? Wow, that was awesome! Usually I’m the one that’s doing stuff like that, now it’s come around full circle. I love it when that happens.” I said.

I then looked over at another guy who had just approached the counter and caught the tail-end of our conversation. “Well, I guess I’m just going to have to pay-it-forward to you my new friend.” I said. He smiled and expressed his gratitude as we all shared a good, hardy laugh together. Then we shared a few more niceties and wished each other a great day as we went on our way.

I’d be totally lying if I said that I don’t live for these casual encounters when normal, everyday, ordinary people reach out and engage in a totally spontaneous Random Act of Kindness (RAK). It’s events like this that reminds me of one of my old phrases “Got MILK?” Motivation-Inspiration-Love-Kindness. Well, on this day, my new friend who remains anonymous certainly had a bit of that good-ole’ MILK.

Don’t miss your opportunities to spread a little MILK around to your fellowman when you can. This action can definitely lead us all to Making it GREAT! “Thank You Anonymous Dude!!! I paid it forward!!!”

AWESOME DAY!!!

Fortunate is the man/woman who has lived a life NOT having to test the level of their breaking point. Lucky are those who experience a trigger for change before causing irreparable damage to their lives. Privileged are he and she who’re entrusted with a new life to teach it wrong from right. And, blessed are those who close their eyes at night and open them again to new daylight with another chance to get it right.

If we pay close enough attention to the world around us we will find that we’re all surrounded by grace and mercy, yet many of us are still reluctant to give it to our fellowman because life has battered, beaten and bullied many of us into a “do-for-self” mindset.

To this I say “Don’t let this be you”. Not in this life. We’re freely getting it so why not make an effort to freely give it so we can all Make it GREAT!

Just a little breadcrumb piece of food-for-thought for you today, so eat-up so you can move-on-up and Make it GREAT! Pass it on… 😉
