What I’m about to say may come as a bit of a shock and surprise to many of you. Some of you may even find yourself a little offended at first but if you really think about what I’m about to say, I’m sure you will eventually agree wholeheartedly with me. Well, here it goes:

After giving it a little careful thought recently I’ve now come to realize that “Givers” are actually useless and have absolutely NO worth or purpose without the needs of the “Needy”.

That’s right folks, think about it for a second. If it were not for the needs of those in need, we “Givers” wouldn’t have a vehicle of opportunity to sow our gifts, talents, time and treasures into. So, although the old saying of, “It’s better to give than to receive” is still important, so too is the “Receivers” role equally as important to make the whole process of reciprocity work.

So the next time you see someone that’s down on their luck or struggling a bit in need, I invite you to consider shifting your thinking into the direction of viewing them as an opportunity rather than an opposition. After all, being a blessing is a beautiful byproduct of the blessed.

So, get-on out there and seize those opportunities to be a blessing to those in need and Make it GREAT! Then tell me all about it… 😉

I absolutely loooove pulling my 4.0 boys out of school for lunch from time-to-time so we can just kick back and enjoy a good meal and some great laughs. Make no mistake about it these two are polar opposites when it comes to their personalities and their individual strengths but friendly competition always seem to bring them together.

At the tender age of 12 and 16, textbook student-athletes they are in every sense of the word and they mean so much more than just the world to me. Our bond is tighter than most and their awesome behavior as young men has oftentimes left me wondering if I will ever encounter any serious conduct challenges with them in the near future. Hmmm… Well, I won’t be holding my breath for that possibility. 🙂

I’m super glad that these two guys share my last name and DNA and I can’t wait to see and hear about all they do to leverage their passions in the years to come in their attempt to Make it GREAT!

Don’t miss your opportunity to do the same.

Let’s continue in our unwavering efforts to encourage our kids to Make it GREAT!!!

Life has taught me that if you just participate in the “Mandatory” your life will be mundane and mediocre. It’s the “Voluntary” that’s necessary to make it Great.

Yes my friends, showing up and just doing what’s expected of you is not enough, it’s the things that you’re willing to do in the absence of a taskmaster that makes the difference between those who’re just “good” and those who’re great.

So let’s all voluntarily choose to be the exception in our respective areas of passion and do that extra stuff that takes us from making this “life” thing just “good” to making it absolutely GREAT!

GREAT DAY!!!

I was hanging out in the Hollywood Hills of Southern California the other day at the world famous Griffith Observatory with my favorite little 10-year-old and I had one of what I call my “Hallelujah Moments of Clarity” that I think you may find some interest or value in.

While touring the facility we were able to gaze at the infinite universe and marvel at the awe-inspiring wonder that it holds. Then I was reminded by our tour guide that when we look up to the skies everything we see has already happened. That’s right friends, everything we see when we look up has already happened and is in the past because light has to travel extremely long distances to reach our eyes for us to see objects in space.

Then it happened, my “Hallelujah Moment of Clarity”. Here it goes: If everything we see is made possible by the reflection of light, then everything we see when our eyes are open is actually the past. No matter near or far away, what we see with our eyes open is a delay of what used to be. Hmmm… I know this is pretty deep for some of you, but get out your scuba-gear because it gets a little bit deeper.

It now seems clear to me that if opening our eyes gives us a view of the past, then closing our eyes is where we can get our glimpse of the future. That’s right folks, closing our eyes allows for us to construct visions of what we want to see and be when we have them open. Hmmm… Simply put, the past that we see when our eyes are open can be constructed by the visions we create when our eyes are closed. Now that’s deeeeep… 🙂

I must admit that I didn’t expect to walk away from a 5th-Grade field trip with such an epiphany, but this is yet another example of what you can see and hear if you just pay attention to what’s happening around you.

So I have a new phrase now: Closing your eyes to meditate can take you from “good” to Making it GREAT! LOL
Let’s choose to Make it GREAT!!!

GREAT DAY!!!

“Cedric, you sure talk a lot about finding your Passion and serving it up to the world. I have no clue about my passion or my area of God-given talent and gifts. Do you have any quick tips on how I can find out what it is?” If I had a dime for every time this question is thrown at me, I would be a very wealthy man. 🙂

Well, the simple answer to this question is “Yes”. Yes I do have a few simple tips that can put you on the path to discovering or even re-discovering that “Passion” thing of yours and also identifying those unique talents and gifts that are nestled inside of you itching to be leveraged for the benefit of others.

For starters, think about what is that thing that you can do all day every day without pay while times slips away?

What is that thing that you appear to have a knack for and seems to come easy for you but may be a bit challenging for others?

What is that thing that you do that others may oftentimes compliment you on?

What is that thing that makes you come alive and brings a big smile to your face when you think about it and time appears to speed up when you’re doing it?

Finally, what is that thing or activity that unlocks the box of where your inner-most feelings of joy and fulfillment reside?

Answering these questions can definitely put you on the path to unearthing those special gifts, talents and passions you possess. So if you’re still in limbo about what makes you special, your homework for life is to discover it, uncover it and help your sister and brother with it. The world needs you now more than ever to step into your greatness so you can then in-turn help them to Make it Great!

Now get-on out there and Make it GREAT!!!
