Last night I had the strangest thing happen to me. In fact, it’s the first time I’ve ever experienced this in my 43 years of living. The experience caused a full swing of emotions from fear and panic to pure joy and elation. I guess it’s safe to say it’s a night that I’m not sure to forget anytime soon.

I’m sure you’re now wondering what exactly could have caused such a response from me huh? Well, I’ll tell you. Last night was the first time I’ve ever had a scary nightmare followed by a beautiful dream.

The nightmare I experienced placed me at the scene of an incredibly large office building. It was the typical stark & sterile design of that dreaded office combo colors of white and grey. As I walked along the corridors I noticed that everyone was wearing lanyard-badges around their neck and moving swiftly to their destinations making minimal eye-contact with the others around them. There was little conversation between the people as many of them were hanging out in their cubicles with an illusion of privacy buried behind a desk full of stacks and stacks of what seemed to be endless paperwork.

Each entrance was carefully guarded by official-looking people that wore a grimace on their face appearing to be suspect of everyone. And, the most surprising thing was that out of the hundreds of people I saw, not one of them was wearing a smile. The place appeared to be completely devoid of joy and happiness.

Then suddenly I was aggressively approached by two menacing looking guards that grabbed me by the arm and yelled, “Where is your badge!” I panicked and started screaming “NOOOOO!!!” and then suddenly I woke up.

Thank God that was just a dream. Or is it? Hmmm… The truth is that some of the facts and specifics may be a bit different but this type of dream is no doubt a reality for many. In fact, some people within eye and earshot of this message today may even be a bit irritated, uneasy or down-right upset at the fact that I’m pointing it out suggesting that such a place can be perceived as a “nightmare”. By all means I do not intend to criticize, complain or condemn those who have chosen to say “Yes” to such an existence, but my intent is to merely remind others that we all have a choice in where we go and what we choose to do to make a living daily.

Well, you’ll be happy to know that I managed to go back to sleep and to my surprise I had a dream that I was on a stage in the center of an arena that was packed to the rafters with thousands of people who were engaged and listening to a message that I was presenting. They were all laughing, smiling and nodding their heads in agreement with the nuggets and value I was providing to them. And as a result, my feeling of dread had now turned into a feeling of sure elation. Was this just a dream, or was it a premonition of what’s to come? Hmmm… I choose to accept it as the latter. 😉

So what are you dreaming lately? Are you basking in your area of passion daily, or are you just in an area or space doing time swapping hours for dollars with no real impact? Are you just making a living or are you living your making? Hmmm…

Just a little food for thought from Mr. BreadCrumb for you to chew on this week. So, eat up so you can go up and Make it GREAT!

GREAT DAY!!!

I’ve been thinking lately about a clear and present danger and threat to our national security that exist right here in our society that appears to be flying under the radar of the general public’s detection. Its mere existence and affects may even appear to be benign and ever-so-subtle on the surface, but the results if left unchecked can be as malignant as they come.

If you look closely you can even see remnants and evidence of the residual effects and fallout in the common areas and places and spaces of our society as we go about our day-to-day lives interacting with people. So what is this juggernaut-of-a-phenomena that could quite possibly unravel the very fabric of our great nation right under our very noses?

Well, it’s quite simply the poor education and mental de-socialization of our next generation and our society’s proliferation of more-and-more people coming out of school chasing the all-mighty-dollar rather than pursing an area of their gifts, talents and passions.

Our ability to challenge our youth and spark their creative juices in the respective areas of their gifts and passions should always be our main objective. After all, it’s the ingenuity of creative minds and innovation and invention in the area of people’s passion that has been the driving force behind the success of our great nation.

The unbridled ability of our youth to dream a Big dream and have the courage to pursue that dream with a tenacity that says “I will until” has been paramount in our journey as a superpower-nation.
Yes our national security may be under direct attack from within, but we can turn it all around and keep our country secure and lead it back to greatness once again and it all starts in our own home.

Yes that’s right my friends, we can engage our youth, challenge their intellect, raise the bar on our expectations of them and stimulate their mind. We can help them to identify their gifts, strengths and passions, then push and prod them in the direction of growing their gifts to their full potential. This definitely would be a positive step in the direction of making our country great once again. Let’s all choose to Make it GREAT!

Would it surprise you if I told you that “resistance” is an indispensable factor of life? Even the greatest of airplanes could never reach for the sky and achieve flight in the absence of the resistance created by the air around it.

Well, just as this is true it’s also true that we humans need a bit of resistance and adversity around us in our lives in order for us to grow and thrive. That’s right my friends, resistance is absolutely necessary for us to achieve anything worthwhile, with emphasis on the words “worthwhile”.

So as a result, if we’re not encountering any resistance on our “worthwhile” journey in this “life” thing, then it may be a good sign that our desired goal just might not be worth our while. Hmmm… Just a short fyi for you today in hopes that you will realize and embrace the role of resistance and continue in your efforts to make this “good” life GREAT!

I was hanging out with my boys last night at the Oildale Sonic eating Subway sandwiches while we waited for our half-priced shakes. Yes that’s right I said “Subway” sandwiches, we think that’s a healthier choice but the Sonic shakes were just a treat.

My boys removed their ball-caps as usual before we prayed a short blessing over our food and then I made a quick whisper about the cigarette smoke that we were having to endure from one of the inconsiderate patrons just because we chose to sit and dine outside at the Sonic.

Minutes later our car-hop waitress showed up at our table with our shakes and then it happened. The long-haired, smoker gentleman put his cigarette out and approached us and said, “Please allow me to take care of that bill for your shakes.” Needless to say I was a bit caught off guard by this gesture so I paused for a second.

He then said, “I feel like God told me to come over and do this for you and your boys after I saw you praying.” I then said, “Well, thank you Lord! I appreciate your kind gesture. I’m not used to being on the receiving end of such gestures, but I do know how to accept them with gratitude when they occur. What’s your name?” “David” he said. “You mean as in ‘The Giant Slayer’?” I asked. “Well, something like that I guess.” He said with a smile.

We expressed our gratitude for the kind gesture and then we exchanged a few minutes of laughter followed by a few more niceties and then wished each other a great day and he went on his way.

Me and my boys spent the next few minutes talking about our experience of being RAK’d (Random-Act-of-Kindness) by David the Giant Slayer. Then I realized that this was the perfect opportunity for me to express to them that it’s not only important to engage in these types of random acts of kindness, but it’s also just as important to be comfortable with receiving them from others who are trying to be a blessing to us. We finished enjoying our smoke-free meal and shakes and topped off our night with a pretty special memory. I think they got the message. 🙂

Please don’t you miss the message today. Leverage this week to RAK a total stranger if you see the opportunity. This is definitely a great week to Make someone else’s day GREAT!
